Weather, temperature and climate in Ukraine
In most parts of the territory of Ukraine climate is temperate continental, with distinct seasons, and only on the southern Crimean coast it changes to subtropical.
In the southern and western parts of the country the climate is milder than in the north and east. In northern Ukraine, the average temperature of the coldest month, January is -7 degrees; in the central region it rises to -5, and in Crimea, depending on the location, it varies from 0.5 to 4.
In winter, the average night temperatures from north to south vary from -9 to 1, the average daily from -3 to +6. Summer in Ukraine is warm, with average temperatures in July +18:20 degrees, and in Crimea 22 degrees. In some years, the thermometer can go up to 32. The average July temperature in the night in most of Ukraine is 13 degrees, the average during the day is 23 degrees. In Crimea, the figures are respectively 20 and 26. Rainfall distributed throughout the country is very uneven. The largest falls in the mountainous areas.
In the Crimean Mountains annual rainfall is about 1100 mm, in the Carpathians rainfall reaches 1400 - 1600 mm. South-eastern region of Ukraine are the most arid, where rainfall does not exceed 400 mm, and in some years there are droughts. In the rest of the average annual rainfall is 600 - 700 mm.
Monthly rainfall are distributed fairly evenly, but in most areas (except Crimea), there is some increase in their summer. The most rainy months are June and July, during which monthly rainfall is about 100 mm in the west, 50 mm in the Crimea and 60 - 80 mm in the rest of the territory. Driest months on the territory of Ukraine are in March and October, with only 30 - 40 mm.
